CRASH: The Neurotic Times

swede

"Journalists and pundits should not manufacture a blood libel that serves only to incite the very hatred and violence they purport to condemn. That is reprehensible" - says Sarah Palin offering a very reasonable defense for being irresponsibly and absurdly accused of inciting Saturday's violence. No word yet whether Ragspierre will be pursuing a plagiarism claim.

In a nameless (gutless) op-ed, the brain rust at the NYT today begins with a titanic genuflect at Dear Leader's awesomely awesome wisdom, coolness and transcendence in calling for civility, setting aside partisanship and "taking great care" in assigning blame in the face of a senseless tragedy. Says the Gray Lady... "It was important that Mr. Obama transcend the debate about whose partisanship has been excessive and whose words have sown the most division and dread." Well, good on ya mates - finally an appropriate mea culpa. Please continue... "This page and many others have identified those voices and called on them to stop demonizing their political opponents."  Right. And I am a magical rabbit with death-ray eyes. It boggles the imagination how people ostensibly with cognitive function beyond that of a cantaloupe could be this obtuse. The level of hypocrisy and/or utter ignorance here defies comprehension.

But let's give them a chance - perhaps they will do a little soul searching... "The president’s words were an important contrast to the ugliness that continues to swirl in some parts of the country." Well there, finally. A small glow of reality and veracity from the deep, dark NYT psyche. But wait... "The accusation by Sarah Palin that “journalists and pundits” had committed a “blood libel” when they raised questions about overheated rhetoric was especially disturbing, given the grave meaning of that phrase in the history of the Jewish people."

Longing for the old civility

The absurdity of this farcical fantasy would be hilarious, except for a very grave resulting reality...

Death Threats against Sarah Palin at 'Unprecedented Level,' Aids Say

The real tragedy is that Jared Loughner suffers from Paranoid Schizophrenia, caused by a chemical imbalance that could easily have been treated had someone intervened - and the heartbreak would have been limited to the Badgers losing the Rose Bowl.  The NYT however suffers from Palin Derangement Syndrome, which is just stupidity. And of course you can't cure stupid.

BURN: Slow Snow Job

swede

Following the Christmas "anthropogenic carbon caused climatic warming disturbance" (or something) which deposited three feet of former polar ice on New York City, it took  five days to clear the streets. This obvious union worker slow down should bring national outrage and new regulation of municipal unions, but alas it won't. The union denies it (natch) even though last year's "carbon creature created catastrophe" actually dumped 1 1/2 inches more snow - yet all the streets were cleared in twenty four hours. (and with exactly the same number of units on the road) The brain rust at NY Times figures the snow job delay was the result of Mayor Bloomberg's failure to declare a "snow emergency" - requiring people to remove all vehicles from the streets for snow removal. The question, "How and where to?!?" was apparently irrelevant to their thesis.

Hey!  I'm talkin' ta youz! Move dat friggin' car ya  moron!

IMAO - Government union workers who do any disservice to the public who pays their salaries - leave alone placing them in danger (two died in NY when emergency services couldn't get to them), should be fired, arrested, tried, fined and jailed. And maybe hanged...or worse...take their pensions away!)

This stuff could keep you awake at night, but here's a nice bedtime story:  In days of old, when GOP was bold and actually had some vision and guts... (Via Politico)

July 1981  Robert Poli, president of the Professional Air Traffic Controllers Organization, (PATCO) sought an across-the-board annual wage increase of $10,000 for the controllers, whose pay ranged from $20,462 to $49,229 per year. He also sought a reduction of their five-day, 40-hour workweek to a four-day, 32-hour workweek. (Do the math – 20-50% salary boost and 20% fewer hours is a 40-70% raise – when the economy was still on the ropes from Jimmeh Peanuthead) The FAA made a $40 million counteroffer, far short of the $770 million package that the union sought.
Aug 3, 1981 13,000 controllers walked out after talks with the FAA collapsed. As a result, some 7,000 flights across the country were canceled on that day at the peak of the summer travel season. Reagan branded the strike illegal and threatened to fire any controller who failed to return to work within 48 hours. Federal judges levied fines of $1 million per day against the union.
Aug 5, 1981 Reagan fired more than 11,000 air traffic controllers who ignored his order to return to work! To the chagrin of the strikers, the FAA’s contingency plans worked. Some 3,000 supervisors joined 2,000 nonstriking controllers and 900 military controllers in manning airport towers. Before long, about 80 percent of flights were operating normally. Air freight remained virtually unaffected.  In carrying out his threat, Reagan also imposed a lifetime ban on rehiring the strikers.
October 1981 The Federal Labor Relations Authority de-certified PATCO.

And we all lived happily ever after. Amen.

Rest in peace, Mr. President. And thanks.
A heartfelt Happy New Year to everybody - and thank you for reading us! May God grant you peace, prosperity and new opportunity in the coming year - and may God bless this nation!

CRASH: Of Dogma and Dopiness

swede  Posted at Doug Ross...THANKS, Doug

Federal Republic of Nigeria
Special Council for Rescue to Climate

Warming greet I am present for you from my homeland Nigeria. I am Ongapo Gonaskruyu, Director of  Special Council for Rescue climate of planet.  Pleasing of us to announce we have invention new device by which for removing of bad carbons from atmosphere that will prevent to you from inconvenient ocean to rising above your head.  Said device is genius for the remove murderous carbons and change to very nice oxygens onto aire.  You are observed this device in below photo. We are happying for the send to your addressed place the saving planet miracle for no moneys, except for you are to see that it is big thing so you need must send for us $5133.43 USD for to be the ship and handle cost.  Please for us immediate to receive credit card and bank account numbers yours for the expedite of shipment.

If you believe that, you will be interested in the latest article from the climate geniuses at NYT!  Yup, they are again pretty sure that they are under three feet of snow because of global warming.  If I may paraphrase this wisdom:  "See the melting ice, like, makes it snow more n’stuff? So ya know, like, the snow reflects the sunlight n’stuff? So like it’s colder ‘cause it’s warmer n’stuff."
Or something.  Allrighty then – glad that’s cleared up!

Good article by Mark Landsbaum in OCR:

“You can make up any analogy you want, but the fact is that computer models don’t show that change,” Pat Michaels, a climatologist and senior fellow at the Cato Institute told The Daily Caller. It is, said Michaels, the “core problem of climatology:” “It is attempting to explain everything even when everything becomes contradictory.”

“They make this stuff up as they go along,” said Myron Ebell, director of the Center of Energy and Environment at the Competitive Enterprise Institute.

“This failure to skillfully predict any of the extreme weather patterns we have seen in the past should be a wake-up call to policymakers and the public that the climate science community is overselling the prediction skill that is possible,” writes Roger Pielke Sr… “Moreover, until and unless they can skillfully predict observationally documented CHANGES in the statistics (probabilities) of the different major circulation patterns, their explanations are necessarily flawed.  There is no evidence that the global climate model multi-decadal predictions (and even shorter term runs on a year or less into the future) have the needed skill."

So, I’m thinking the the smart move, is to spend Billions we don’t have, impose massive fees and taxes in a recessed economy, and transfer all our wealth to third world countries to eliminate miniscule ammounts of greenhouse gasses that probably have absolutely nothing to do with climate warming.  Yeah, that’s the ticket!  And of course – God bless ‘em – Califunnya is setting the gold standard of committing fiscal sepuku for the sake of Junk Science!

In the wise and immortal words of the epic philosopher, climate genius and cultural icon, Homer Simpson, “D’OH!!”

CRASH: The Collective's Goal Is Submissive Subjects

Disarmed, stolid, compliant subjects are always the goal of the Collective.  They like people passive, pliant, and powerless.  That is a constant, and one that cannot be forgotten.

The Collective is showing a renewed drive to disarm Americans, and that is no joke...and no paranoid delusion.

Barack Hussain Obama has put forward a man to head the ATF (long one of the more roguish of the alphabet-soup Federal agencies) that should be strongly opposed.  He is a doctrinaire anti-gun extremist...and that seems his primary qualification for his nomination to the position.  Well, that...and he's connected to Chicago.

You know, Chicago.  That city where the mayor insists that private citizens have no right to effective self-defense, and where they are vigorously prosecuted for having a firearm.  That city where nobody is ever shot to death, like in the other big gun-prohibition cities...Detroit, New York, and Washington, DC.

Speaking of Washington, DC, a Federal judge there essentially told the Supreme Court to screw itself recently in his lather to help reinstate a gun prohibition in that city.  Precedent be damned...right along with the Constitution.

The New York Times has redoubled its editorial nonsense against gun ownership and those who advocate that citizens should have a right to have them and carry them.  According to the voice of the Collective, such people are irresponsible, and a threat to "public safety".  Hmm...

Then, there is this nexus; Americans are being trained to be happy cattle, passive in the face of TSA conduct that would constitute a sex crime in another context, and is a miserable, stupid, and vacant violation of civil liberties.

At the same time, we are being told by our Collectivist "leaders" that more and more of us will be pushed to use mass transportation for our needs...buses and the boondoggle bullet trains our taxes are being squandered upon. I think it may be fairly universal that pistol-carry permit holders are not allowed on city buses with their weapons now.  It is impossible to imagine they will be MORE tolerated in mass transit in the future.

Our right to travel is being eroded.  Our jealousy of our civil-liberties is being tested and desensitized.  And the Collective has ALWAYS wanted us disarmed and totally dependent on an armed police force for our personal protection...and for "the public good".

CRASH: NYT--Right Question, Wrong Answer

In a rare fit of awareness and good sense, The New York Times asks: "Have the stepped-up attacks in Pakistan — notably the Predator drone strikes — actually made Americans less safe?".  Not surprisingly, they come up with the wrong answer.

The NYT provides us this extension of their question, which is where the wheels fall off their wagon:

"Have they had the perverse consequence of driving lesser insurgencies to think of targeting Times Square and American airliners, not just Kabul and Islamabad? In short, are they inspiring more attacks on America than they prevent?"

Therein, they go back to the same old collectivist BS of hand-wringing over "what makes them want to hurt us".  I've always had this common-sense response: A) I don't care, and B) we are America--they are the stone-age.

But the root question...the one before they started to descend into psychobabbling Islamo-analysis...is a good question.

Why are we killing our enemies rather than capturing them?  They are worth a lot more alive, at least some of them, as vessels of precious intelligence.  So why reduce them to useless pink clouds with Predator strikes?

The answer, of course is both obvious and one the NYT would not care to articulate; Barack Hussain Obama would find them a MUCH greater nuisance alive...and captured...than dead.  Owing entirely to the man-child's naivete in foreign and national security policy, and to his cluelessness as Commander-In-Chief...coupled with his campaign demagoguery on GITMO, detention, military justice, etc...the Obami cannot afford to take prisoners.

Regardless of how it hurts American interests, Obama feels obliged to kill...rather than capture...enemies that hold key intelligence we vitally need.  The collective generally accedes, and spins its wheels with worrying about the Obamic policy making more terrorists.
