BURN: Slow Snow Job

swede

Following the Christmas "anthropogenic carbon caused climatic warming disturbance" (or something) which deposited three feet of former polar ice on New York City, it took  five days to clear the streets. This obvious union worker slow down should bring national outrage and new regulation of municipal unions, but alas it won't. The union denies it (natch) even though last year's "carbon creature created catastrophe" actually dumped 1 1/2 inches more snow - yet all the streets were cleared in twenty four hours. (and with exactly the same number of units on the road) The brain rust at NY Times figures the snow job delay was the result of Mayor Bloomberg's failure to declare a "snow emergency" - requiring people to remove all vehicles from the streets for snow removal. The question, "How and where to?!?" was apparently irrelevant to their thesis.

Hey!  I'm talkin' ta youz! Move dat friggin' car ya  moron!

IMAO - Government union workers who do any disservice to the public who pays their salaries - leave alone placing them in danger (two died in NY when emergency services couldn't get to them), should be fired, arrested, tried, fined and jailed. And maybe hanged...or worse...take their pensions away!)

This stuff could keep you awake at night, but here's a nice bedtime story:  In days of old, when GOP was bold and actually had some vision and guts... (Via Politico)

July 1981  Robert Poli, president of the Professional Air Traffic Controllers Organization, (PATCO) sought an across-the-board annual wage increase of $10,000 for the controllers, whose pay ranged from $20,462 to $49,229 per year. He also sought a reduction of their five-day, 40-hour workweek to a four-day, 32-hour workweek. (Do the math – 20-50% salary boost and 20% fewer hours is a 40-70% raise – when the economy was still on the ropes from Jimmeh Peanuthead) The FAA made a $40 million counteroffer, far short of the $770 million package that the union sought.
Aug 3, 1981 13,000 controllers walked out after talks with the FAA collapsed. As a result, some 7,000 flights across the country were canceled on that day at the peak of the summer travel season. Reagan branded the strike illegal and threatened to fire any controller who failed to return to work within 48 hours. Federal judges levied fines of $1 million per day against the union.
Aug 5, 1981 Reagan fired more than 11,000 air traffic controllers who ignored his order to return to work! To the chagrin of the strikers, the FAA’s contingency plans worked. Some 3,000 supervisors joined 2,000 nonstriking controllers and 900 military controllers in manning airport towers. Before long, about 80 percent of flights were operating normally. Air freight remained virtually unaffected.  In carrying out his threat, Reagan also imposed a lifetime ban on rehiring the strikers.
October 1981 The Federal Labor Relations Authority de-certified PATCO.

And we all lived happily ever after. Amen.

Rest in peace, Mr. President. And thanks.
A heartfelt Happy New Year to everybody - and thank you for reading us! May God grant you peace, prosperity and new opportunity in the coming year - and may God bless this nation!

BURN: There's No Fool Like An Old Fool

Unless the fool in question is a delusional, egomanical, self-aggrandizing old fool like Jemma Caarta OR his enablers in the MSM.

In one of the MOST amazing developments in an amazing political season, Jimmy Carter's latest stab at rehabilitation is certainly up there in terms of chutzpa, if nothing else.

Asked by NBC's Brian Williams to explain the photo of Carter with the other living Presidents, this is how the weird back-patting developed:
BRIAN WILLIAMS: The last photo of you with your-- fellow former presidents, you were well off to the side on the right. And I thought to myself, well, there's-- there's a possible metaphor. What is it-- about you, you think, the way you've-- decided to conduct your life and post-presidency? Do you feel listened to? Do you feel-- that you receive your due? Or do you feel, in fact, apart from the crowd?
MR. CARTER: "I feel that my role as a former president is probably superior to that of other presidents. Primarily because of the activism and the -- and the injection of working at the Carter Center and in international affairs, and to some degree, domestic affairs, on energy conservation, on -- on environment, and things of that kind. We're right in the midst of the -- of the constant daily debate. And -- and -- and the Carter Center has decided, under my leadership, to fill vacuums in the world. When -- when the United States won't deal with troubled areas, we go there and we meet with leaders who can bring an end to a conflict, or an end to a human rights abuse, and so forth. So I -- I feel that have an advantage over many other former presidents in being involved in daily affairs that have shaped the policies of our nation and the world."  [My emphasis]
When I think of Carter and his international "work", I think of his flabbergasting support for dictators and election abuse, for his incomprehensible anti-semitism and friendliness with terrorists, and for his FAILURES to support human rights fighters and unflagging acceptance of human rights abuse.

Carter CHOSE to lay a wreath on the grave of Yassir Arafat, warmly embracing the Hamas leadership on the same trip.

There is simply no tie to reality in Carter's "CarterCare" claim made on seeBS.  It is simply bizarre.
"The fact is that we would have had comprehensive health care now had it not been for Ted Kennedy's deliberately blocking the legislation that I proposed."
"It was his fault. Ted Kennedy killed the bill."

All this truly begs credulity!  It rivals Barack Hussain Obama's Recovery Summer as a living, breathing dirty joke.

CRASH: The "Love Boat" Exposes The Vile Face Of Race Hatred

Events sometimes have a way of stripping all pretext...all nicety...from the positions people carefully occupy, exposing who they really are, what they actually think.  The result can be stark, ugly, and wonderfully instructive.

It is good to deal with reality.  It is hard to deal with reality, but it can become a really fine habit.  Still, when you see a suppurating lesion on the face of the world...or your own countrymen...there is a mixture of sadness and revulsion that makes one want to turn away.  With respect to what the "Love Boat" flotilla is teaching us, we cannot turn away; the reality has to be embraced.

When Helen Thomas said what she did, suggesting that Jews should simply "go back to Europe", she was openly expressing what many American and Western media people quietly...in the darker folds of their souls...believe.

I am old enough (60) to remember when the idea of Israel was one that people of good will seemed to universally support.  I say that, because I was not likely aware of the deep, abiding racial hatred in some parts of the world, directed at the tiny little nation on the Mediterranean.  I remember the movies made during the fifties and early sixties about Israel and its birthing.  I grew up...partly (and to the extent I grew up)...in Los Angeles, in a very Jewish area.  I never got the whole Antisemitism thing.

Since, of course...and inescapably in the recent history of the world...I have learned, not to understand, but to appreciate or comprehend the operative fact of hatred for a branch of the human family.  It simply exists, and it shapes people's behavior and their thinking.  It is so powerful, it can overwhelm the feelings of fathers and mothers for their children.  Not just the suicide bombers, but the fathers and mothers who consign their children and grandchildren to profound tyranny, poverty, and twistedness in support of that hate.  I readily admit that I cannot understand that hate.

Helen Thomas suggested that the Jews simply drop the whole "Israel deal".  They should go home.  This suggests that they are the problem.  They are the reason for so much misery.  What a bothersome, burdensome people.  Why do they insist on imposing so much misery.

She named a few places...Poland, Germany...vaguely waving in the direction of Europe.  Why?  I suppose because it is convenient to think of them as interlopers...carpetbaggers who infested a region in which they were utterly foreign.  Human Zebra Mussels.  But Jews were there.  And they had been there.  Who built the Wailing Wall, and the great temple of which it used to be a part?  Who fought for their land, as they fight now, from the heights of Masada? By then, they had been there centuries.  Could she be so ignorant of history?  No.

Where, if not there, is there a home for Jews...especially the millions of children born since Israel was established?  And where could Jews go where the implacable, insatiable drive to kill them would not follow?  Is their mere existence in Israel what causes the "trouble"?  Would not that same "trouble" always find them, driven by the same hatred, wherever they go?  Could she be ignorant of that truth?  No.

Could Thomas...and those slinking supporters of her thinking...be unaware that Israel would be delighted to never have to fight one more day the grinding, tragic, costly war that they have had to fight virtually every hour since they became a nation?  If peace...other than the peace of the grave...were a possibility, would the Israelis not rush to gain it?  Does Thomas think Israel is a nation of war-mongers who delight in the idea of having to be an armed camp, every hour only hours away from being in a struggle for their own cities, with the sea at the backs of their children?  No.

This is about racial hatred.  There are Jews who hate their own race, and apparently not a few in the media.  There are people who think that Jews should know their place...wherever that might possibly be...and it isn't Israel.  They are the trouble-makers of the world, and the world would be better off if they would just go home.  Wherever that might be...

CRASH: What's A Blogger To Do...???

I've been stymied over the last two days. First, I had a "connectivity issue" with a wanky modem. But, second, I have just had trouble finding A thing to post about. There is JUST SOOOOOO MUCH...

I mean, we have Pat Buchanan and Jimma Carter going full-tilt nuts in their criticism of Israel...not to mention the dementia of the Dame of the White House press corp.  But at least Helen Thomas is open about her preference that Israel just drop dead.

We have self-loathing American Jews proving their idiocy...voluntary idiocy...in goose-step with the collective in their love of Jihadists.

We have the U.S. money supply shrinking at 1930s levels.  Does NOBODY read Milton Friedman anymore!?!?

We have a crisis of leadership from the Obami...and I could name about fifty areas where that is true.  The Gulf is only ONE.

We have stories of political corruption simply exploding...and some of them involve the GOP.

We have sustained, miserable unemployment...and policies that seem designed to keep it that way.  Markets are telling us what they think about our future.

And I still have to be an attorney.

It really is just too much.  It ain't right, I tells ya...
