CRASH: Is Cain Able?

I like Herman Cain.  As a man, Mr. Cain is an extremely impressive individual, with an absolutely stellar "life story".  The question of the hour is, "What kind of presidential candidate would he be?".

In the recent past, we were sold Sonya Sotomayor as SCOTUS nominee on the strength of her "life story"...or what used to be called her "biography".  It was supposed to be impressive, because her intellect and her work as a jurist certainly were not.

So, in the world where "life stories" are important, Herman Cain's biography is a literal Horatio Alger story (hey, it's been recognized by the Horatio Alger Society!).  Mr. Cain, at 65, is everything that Barack Hussain Obama is not and never will be, including a man of solild accomplishment, applied intellect, and an American value system predicated on hard work and faith in God.

Unlike Obama, Cain was raised in a strong two parent home.  Unlike Obama, Mr. Cain understands and likes capitalism.  Unlike Obama, Cain was taught and understands the value of work.

As recent days show, he is not afraid to get down in the hustings of American political controversy, either.

He has been a frequent guest host on both Neil Boortz's and Rush Limbaugh's radio programs.  He speaks with what seems a remarkably authentic voice...meaning that (unlike Obama or Hilliary Clinton) whatever audience he is addressing, you hear the same tone, cadence, and vocabulary.  With Herman Cain, you get a consistent product, as he might put it in branding terms.

The Boortz connection is perhaps a telling one; Boortz self-identifies as a Libertarian/Conservative.  But the Cain/Boortz relationship may be built more on their shared Atlanta roots than any identity they share politically.  Both men have an apparent love of Atlanta, where Cain was raised (it is hard to avoid puns).

Can a black American conservative have a prayer of getting even fair treatment by the MSM?  That is an open question.

Can Herman Cain become the "brand" that every presidential candidate must, successfully making himself a household name?  Mr. Cain knows how that is done in the business world.  Are politics and business enough alike?

What, if anything, would opposition research performed by some of the nastiest people ever to slither in the political grass turn up to hurt Mr. Cain?  He could be assured that he would be Palinized by the Collective.

There is no doubt that Herman Cain is interested in running to be President.  Could he do that successfully?  There are too many unknowns at this time to know that answer, but I personally could happily vote for the man, based on what I know of him today.  Cain could be able.

It's Not the Fall, It's the Sudden Stop

swede

While Prime Minister Emil Boc was addressing the Romanian Parliament, a man, identified as state-TV engineer Adrian Sobaru, executed a swan dive (actually more of a belly-flop) from a balcony to the chamber floor.  During his brief flight, he yelled “Boc, you’ve taken away the rights of our children.”  He wore a T-shirt saying “You’ve pierced us. You’ve killed our children’s future. Freedom.”  Sobaru has an autistic son, and was distraught over losing his government health benefits. He survived the fall, and was heard repeating "freedom" as he was wheeled out of the chamber. I might suggest the allusion to Braveheart somehow misses the mark.

Setting aside for the moment the obvious question of how Sobaru figured taking his life would improve his autistic son's situation - his "belly-flop" was tragically illustrative of the big picture of epic European failure, and where the US is heading if Obama's "radical transformation of America" is not radically transformed - and pronto.

Violent demonstrations are breaking out across Europe from Greece to France, Spain, England, Ireland and yes, Romania - as people adamantly oppose their governments pulling back entitlements that should never have been promised.  Simply stated: Governments have promised that which they do not have, and entitlement obsessed people are now demanding that which is not there.

I genuinely sympathize with this poor schmuck - not because of his pathetic attempt at a dramatic statement, nor the loss of his healthcare entitlement - but because the Nanny State has taken away his self-sufficiency, self-respect, dignity and hope - not to mention the "freedom" he thinks he has lost. And I can't help thinking of the irony that this hideous socialist HopeyChangey monster presently being created by the demented Dr. Frankenbama - is the very thing that threatens to destroy hope in America.

I do not anticipate Social Security or Medicare being available when I reach retirement age - leave alone the greatest/worst entitlement yet - BarryCare.  Yet I have no fear of the future. I will simply keep working as long as possible doing what I enjoy, and making due with what I have. My peace of mind comes easily because I do not place my hope and trust in my government, but my God, the ultimate source of our freedom, sovereignty, dignity and hope.

Not a bad thing to remember at Christmas!  Merry Christmas all!  May God's rich blessings in Christ be yours in abundance!

CRASH: Ancient Moonbat--"That Bloomberg Is A Shoo-In"

Writing in The Daily Bust...where else?...ancient moonbat and failed presidential candidate Ralph Nader assures us that Michael Bloomberg is the very stamp of a successful POTUS candidate in 2012.

Nader provides us 21 reasons Nanny Bloomers can be our next POTUS, some of which are simply precious, and each a tour d'main in moonbattery.  Take, for instance...
13. Nowadays, people do give billionaires the benefit of the doubt—to wit—“he can’t be bought;” “he was very successful and met a large payroll;” “he doesn’t owe the fat cats anything,” “he’s not going to be a wild, unpredictable unknown,” “he has a stake in a stable system.”
Two word refutation: George Soros.  I can think of very few billionaires I would REMOTELY consider giving my vote.  Bloomers would be one of the LAST.

18. Right off he starts out in a good position to win most of the New England states, New York, New Jersey, Illinois, California, Oregon, Washington state and quite possibly Florida. Remember, all he needs is a plurality of the vote in each state in a three-way race.
On what pixie-dust poll we come to that conclusion, I'm sure I don't know.  Are people in those states showing in polling they want to elect a Hobbit???

1. He starts out well-known nationally with a broad support core of city mayors and urbanists with whom he has worked for years to steep himself in knowledge about metropolitan matters.
Lessee here...  Suppose he freaking SWEEPS the field of big city mayors and "urbanists"...that would mean...what...150 votes, nation-wide...?!?!?
7. The percentage of voters registering as independent is at an all-time high. In some states there are more independently registered voters than those registering as Republicans or Democrats. Independent voters are more likely to shift their allegiance than loyal partisan voters.
And this is where Old Ralph (sounds like something you'd see on the saloon floor) is at his battiest.  He ASSumes that independent voters are hippies.  They LIKE BIG GOVERNMENT, and would be enthralled to have Nanny Bloomers telling them...on a national level...what they can eat, smoke, drink, and think.  Remember, it was Bloomers who lept to the conclusion that the Times Square Bomber must be some disgruntled white guy, hacked about ObamaCare.  I will remember...so will Red America.

9. Bloomberg has received criticisms on numerous issues, but he panders less than any national politician. As mayor he has taken on the NRA all the way to Congress. He has enraged the tobacco industry and saloon owners with his no-smoking ordinances, angered the food industry and restaurants with his drive against sugar and transfats. Recently, he stood tall [see above under "Hobbit"] against heavy pressure and supported the right of an Islamic cultural center to locate in lower Manhattan.
Whoa, yeah!!!  THAT certainly endeared him to Americans everywhere.  Well, Berkley...nope, right the first time.  I did say Americans...  He seems to support the Cordoba House more than he's supporting the Freedom Tower.

For my money, a Nanny Bloomers presidential administration would just about be the last thing this nation needs after Obama.  For one thing, Bloomers can't tell friend from foe, just like the Collectivist he is.  He HATES liberty.  More of the Obamabanana Republic.

CRASH: Asian People Also Apparently Too Ignorant to Appreciate Presidential Awesomeness

swede

You might have thought having his a$$ handed to him on a mid-term platter would humble the Narcisist in Chief.  Think again.  Once again Dear Leader jumps into Ego One and demonstrates his utter cluelessness across the globe.  Three goals for the trip - per ABC - and three strikes.  Trade deal with South Korea? Thanks so much for the visit, but nope.  Convince China to stop manipulating their currency (the same week the Fed drops $600 Bil into circulation)?  Thanks for the lecture, but go f%& yourself.  Convince G20 nations to pressure China and buy more American stuff?  Thanks for the offer, but nobody wants American stuff.  Too expensive.  Union labor.

Obama Post G20: 'Instead Of Hitting Home Runs, Sometimes We're Going To Hit Singles'

Jonathan Last at The Weekly Standard has a good take that helps solve the mystery of how this man can possibly be so dense.  His field of vision is completely obscured by himself, and he can't understand how anyone could possibly see anything other than him either.  American Narcissus - The Vanity of Barack Obama.

Meanwhile the clock keeps on ticking...

The Gross National Debt

But hope is in sight.  As Rags reminded us, "We Just Won A Battle, Not The War".  If anything, it's time to turn up the pressure.  Balance the budget.  Kill the earmarks.  Repeal Barry Care.

CRASH: Hail Caesar Obamus

swede

Oxford scholar Jack Carlson thinks the rise and fall of The Obamanian Empire is all about image.

“Obama as Roman Emperor -- the rise and fall of the propaganda master – President Barack Obama's campaign of images, emotions, and themes won him tremendous popularity – and the presidency.”  Carlson says to understand the 'ruler cult' cycle, we must look to the first Roman emperor Augustus, and his use of “portrait-type” images disseminated and recreated for public consumption across the empire in the form of statues, coins, and other artworks.

It seems he was also adept at associating his image with the gods, and with iconic Roman heroes past - and inscribing coins bearing his likeness with lofty “buzz words” like – CONCORDIA (union); RESTITUTOR (restorer or renewer); and, most strikingly, SPES (hope).   No denying Ceasar Salad Obamus used images in a huge way.

While Carlson has an interesting point - there seems to be a serious flaw in this picture.  Augustus Caesar reigned for life and laid the foundation of an empire and government system that spanned fifteen hundred years.  His legend only grew larger over time.  Augustus was a man of wisdom, character and heroic accomplishment, while “Caesar Obamus”, it would seem, is a legend soley in his own mind - who has lost his divine radiance in just 18 months.  I rather doubt future generations  will see the 8th month named for Augustus changed to “OBAM".

I think a key difference is that in our supposedly “advanced” culture, a guy with a Jersey accent named Vince can sell millions of folks cleaning rags (mockingly called "Sham" - Wow) and plastic slicer/dicers at $19.95 a pop.  You don’t need to read the “Consumer Reports” evaluation to know that the majority of folks who “acted now!!” and spent twenty bucks for a dish rag that won’t do what a 50 cent sponge does, feel ripped off – and I’d bet the remainder just don’t want to admit they were so easily conned.

Americans, regrettably comprised unanimously of human beings – and who are mostly products of dumbed-down public education (AND COLLEGES) – have a regrettable penchant to be swayed by slick rhetoric and lofty hyperbole, and to be rather easily misled by faulty reasoning.  It’s interesting that the classic “logical fallacies” used and abused by our mind-numbing politicians, “pitch men” and Lamestream Media elite were known and understood 500 years before Augustus, yet seem even more effective today than then.

“We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.”

“This was the moment the rising of the oceans began to slow, and our planet began to heal!”

"We cannot rebuild this economy on the same pile of sand.  We must build our house upon a rock. We must lay a new foundation for growth and prosperity…”

The reason for [insert negative phenomenon here] is Bush.  Republicans want you to die quickly.  Obamacare will be deficit neutral.  Tax cuts benefit only the rich.  The science is settled.  Economists / Geologists / Climatologists / Experts agree that [insert your opinion here].  The Tea Party is ignorant / racist / islamaphobe / homophobe / hateful / dangerous.  9/11 was an inside job.  Obama is not a US citizen….yada, yada.

I suspect Shakespeare knew about Obama:

[Obamaius] is but a walking shadow, a poor player
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage
And then is heard no more: it is
a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing
.
